When you enter the jazz soundscape created by this trio your ears will think you've died and gone to heaven! The open sound of this pianoless group gives the players ample space to explore while you, the listener, get to hear each tone and timbre (so beautifully recorded by Richard Roeder) as though you were sitting in at the session yourself! This is simply great music: mostly originals, with a few gems from Ornette Coleman, Albert Ayler, Eubie Blake, and more. It's rare when musicians play together on a recording date with the kind of palpable simpatico heard here. Total playing time: 69:15 Chris Bacas - Tenor and Soprano

HARRY
APPELMAN: Balancing Harry always finds the interesting
stuff beneath the surface. He gets inside the chords and finds a new way out of them that
is always an unexpected surprise. Here, joined by colleagues of equal taste and articulate
expression, Harry gives us his personal acoustic jazz statement that's as engaging as it
is enjoyable. Harry Appelman - Piano |
The
CHRIS BACAS Quartet: Leave a Message
Chris stretches out here on tenor and a some flute in a killin' straight-ahead groove
session with some pretty heavy cats. These tunes swing mightily (as only a group with a
Hammond B-3 in the hands of Larry Goldings can) and they have a way of sticking in your
mind long after the CD is finished playing. Chris Bacas - Tenor Sax & Flute |
